Dell Richardson

Dell's been hooked on Rock'n'Roll since the 60's, DJ'ing, running clubs in London, stage managing the Hemsby weekenders, and even running a (land-based) pirate radio station with Roy. The Clay Pigeon in Eastcote, NW London, featured many top British and American acts during the 10 years Dell was running it. In 1986 he started Fury Records with his business partner Steve Chapman, but in 1995 they parted, and Steve went on to run Spindrift Records.

In 1997 Dell was approached by Tom Ingram, then a DJ on Country Music Radio, who was about to emigrate to the USA. He suggested Dell contacted CMR, as they were looking for another Rock'n'Roll DJ, so it's all thanks to Tom that Dell got his break in radio. At CMR he met up with Bryan Chalker, who, until recently, presented the Hard Country show which followed Good Rockin'Tonight on Friday nights. When CMR closed down Dell (and Bryan) moved on to Merlin Network One. That also closed down, and Dell (and Bryan!) got a break with Radio Caroline, thanks to the great help of a Merlin engineer, Chris England.

Dell's very proud to be a part of the Caroline family.

Dell at the Desk

Karen Richardson

Karen married Dell in 1999, and she's been helping him with the show almost since Dell started on Radio Caroline. She answers the phones, and as a result has got to know many of the regular listeners quite well. Other jobs include looking after the fax machine, and keeping Dell supplied with cups of tea! She was particularly important to the show a couple of years ago, when an accident left Dell in a wheelchair for several months.

Recently Dell and Karen have moved house, and she can now only visit the studio occasionally, but all the listeners enjoy hearing her when she's there.

Roy Williams

Roy is known to GRT listeners as the Professor, because he knows something about everything! He's been a rocker since the early sixties. In the early seventies he was the DJ at the Royalty in London, where he supported many of the greats, and that's when Roy and Dell's friendship began. In the late seventies he started Nervous Records, which has given a boost to the careers of many bands in the Rock'n'Roll and Rockabilly field, including the Jets and the Polecats.

Roy joins the fun at Radio Caroline most Tuesdays, answering the phones, reading the Emails, feeding the fax machine and generally helping out. When there's a live band in the studio, Roy uses his production talents to ensure the best possible sound for the listeners. He also does behind-the-scenes work for the show, and makes many of the professional voice-overs for advertisements that you'll hear on the show, using some amazing equipment that he's paid for out of his own pocket. Thanks Roy!!.
