Special guest on Friday 18th October 2002 was Del-Boy (Club member 005). Del-Boy runs the monthly rock'n'roll club at Higham Ferrers in the UK. He also puts on all-dayers from time to time. He brought down his selection of favourites to play.

On September 20th Jacen Bruce was in the studio. Jacen has been on the rock'n'roll scene for some time. He fronted a band called Jacen & The Rockanauts in 1995. His latest CD is called 'Scream', and he is looking for a film or TV company to use the title track. Also on this CD is a track called 'Mesmerised', which is a great stroller, and it will be featured on the new Fury Records compilation CD "The Best Of Fury Rock'n'Roll" which will be released by November this year.

On August 16th The Legendary Bryan Chalker OAG ( Old Age Git!! ) visited Radio Caroline. This was his first visit since Hard Country went off the air in May. We had 3 hours of the usual banter, and a great time was had by all!!

On August 9th 2002 Johnny Red (Johnny Wall) of Johnny and the Jailbirds was in the studio. Johnny and the Jailbirds were first formed in 1973, and for 9 years their riveting live performances were legendary around Europe. In 1982 they called it a day, but in the year 2000 they re-formed and issued a brand-new album 'Rockin' The Blues Away' which became an instant hit with DJ's in the clubs. They're now back on the road, still rockin' in the same old way!

Friday 31st May 2002 was Bryan Chalker's last night on Radio Caroline. To mark the occasion Dell and Bryan teamed up from 8 - 10 pm for Good Rockin' Country, just as they used to on CMR. The insults were flying, just like the old days, and Bryan was sent off in fine style!

On Friday 17th May, Club Members June and Eddie, and Bob and Janet from the Hardy Spicers club in Birmingham, UK, were in the studio. They played some of their favourites, and brought a lot of fun into the studio. They're not called the Hardy Spicer Nuts for nothing!! Club memberJohn Fisher was in the studio on Friday 12th April. John is a great Jerry Lee fan, and has a record and CD collection of over 80,000 items (yes, 80,000!). John played a great selection of music, and did a great job of promoting the Good Rockin' Tonight club!

Johnny Earle was in the studio on Friday 29th March 2002 to promote his latest CD, and he also sang live in the studio, accompanied by Eric Rowan on guitar. Johnny has a great voice and has done many tributes to "Elvis" over the years. He was asked by Pepsi-Cola in America to record "Jailhouse Rock" for a Pepsi commercial that reaches 250 million people, wow! You could call him "The Voice Of America" eh! An interesting man to talk to.

Lee Hugman and his wife Trisha were in the studio on Friday, 22nd March. Lee has recently taken over the organisation of the world-famous Thunderbird Club in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, UK. Lee is also the stage manager at Hemsby, a job he took over from Dell !! He also runs the Record Machine Record Hop. Many years ago he was the 'percussionist' with "Session 57", so there was lots to talk about.
Lee gave Dell a pair of tickets, worth £20, to the Thunderbird gig with Robert Gordon on March 28th. The lucky listener was Mick Haynes. Hope you enjoyed it, Mick!

On Friday, March 15th the guests were Maggie Sampford and Terry Cowlishaw. She's the editor of 'Maggies Blue Suede News', a monthly magazine which is full of news, 'whats-ons' and articles on the rockin' scene in the UK Midlands and further afield. Maggie gave an interesting insight into the work involved in producing the magazine.

On Friday 8th March, unfortunately, Mystery Gang from Hungary couldn't make it to the studio because their van broke down, but they have promised to come at some future date, and will give us a live acoustic set of wild rockabilly.
However, 'Slim Tim' was in the studio and gave a very interesting interview about his introduction to Rock'n'Roll in Dell's clubs in the early 80's. Tim is a DJ who now runs the Camden Workers Club, taking over from Jerry Chatabox. Tim has been on the scene for many years, and years ago ( when he was 16) he was gigging as "Tim's Heptunes Record Hop" which may jog some people's memories! He played a wide selection of his favourite tracks, including some as yet unpublished tracks.

On Friday, March 1st Roger Dicken visited the studio for a fascinating interview. Roger has produced a great 400-page book, called 'The Amazing 50's Wild Youth', which is crammed full of articles, photos and clips on 50's culture. He also used to produce scale models and special effects for the film industry, working on lots of famous horror and other feature films. On Friday 22nd February 2002, Huelyn Duvall the legendary Rockabilly guy from Challenge Records, was 'live' in the studio for an interview. Willie Jeffery, the organiser from the Hemsby Rock'n'Roll weekends, brought Huelyn down, as he was appearing at a few gigs in the UK.
Some of the tracks that Huelyn made famous were..... "Three Months To Kill", "Pucker Paint", "Suzie's House" and "Boom Boom Baby" to name but a few.

Friday 15th February saw the return of Chris Jackson (unfortunately his wife Beverley couldn't come as she was unwell. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Beverley). They run the 'Americana Weekend' in Newark, Nottingham, UK. This year the headliners for the event were Lonnie Donegan and Janis Martin, among many more, and it was on from 4th-7th July 2002. They gave Dell two pairs of tickets to give away (worth £100 each pair).

On Friday 8th February 2002 Tony Rocco was in the studio. He made a good jiver in 1962 called 'Stalemate', and in the eighties, the track was so popular in the clubs that it was bootlegged onto a single on the 'Northwood' label, and it sold like hotcakes. Tony made a couple of singles in the early sixties and told some interesting stories from that time.

On Friday 25th January, club member John Fisher brought none other than Linda Gail Lewis to Radio Caroline for an interview. Dell played many of her tracks, and they chatted about her music, and her childhood with big brother Jerry Lee. John Fisher recently mounted two sell-out gigs in London with Linda Gail and the Avengers, which will be repeated on October 19th 2002. On Friday 18th January 2002 there was a surprise guest, DJ Jerry Chatabox. Dell and Jerry chatted about the Rockabilly Rave, and Dell played some of Jerry's favourite tracks. The Rockabilly Rave was at Pontins, Camber Sands, Sussex, UK ( not far from Dover ). It starred Ronnie Dawson and Big Sandy and the Fly-Rite Trio, amongst many others. Among the DJ's was Jerry Chatabox, Mouse, and Tom Ingram flew in especially from the States!

On Friday 7th December 2001 we had the return of Dave Driver as a guest on the show. Dave played some early recordings that were made famous by other artist's in later years. This interview was as enjoyable and interesting as his previous visit, and he's promised to come back again.

Willy Jeffrey and Ian Wallis, the organisers of The Rockers Reunion, kindly donated 2 FREE tickets, worth a total of £34, and Dell ran a competition for them, with a draw on Friday 7th. December. There were 57 correct entries, and the winner was John Taylor 'Old Son!'
